Sitting low in the car, you get a great view out over the hood and it will always put a smile on your face when you blip the throttle and watch the shaker hood moving around just in your peripherals.  Under the hood, this 1981 Firebird Trans Am is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces 150 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. Although this may not sound like a lot of power today, it has gobs of lowdown torque that gives the Trans Am great acceleration and more than enough grunt to spin the tires at the twitch of your right foot. To make this car even more fun to drive, it is then equipped with a 4-speed manual gearbox- with its long shift lever coming out towards the front of the center console, it offers pleasantly notchy shifts and is strong enough to stand up to whatever abuse you can throw at it.  One of the most significant improvements in the 1981 model was the car's handling and suspension. The car's front suspension was updated with new coil springs and a new sway bar, which significantly improved the car's handling and stability. In the rear, the suspension was also updated, with new shocks and a new rear sway bar that improved the car's traction and stability. To improve things even further, this car was optioned with the Performance Pack from the factory which fits a limited-slip differential, as well as power brakes and fantastic-looking gold aluminum “turbo” wheels.  Overall, the 1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was an impressive car that offered excellent performance, handling, and styling.
